This position can be fully remote. You do not need to live in Michigan.
Position Summary: The Employee Benefits Account Manager is responsible for renewals and maintaining all aspects of existing client relationships. The AM is able to take the lead on Group Benefit accounts and provide a high degree of support in maintaining and servicing them. The AM acts as a management resource to the other service team members and is expected to accurately document new and existing coverage transactions in the automation system, which includes documentation of daily service issues.
This position requires direct interaction with account executives, carriers, peers, and clients. An Employee Benefits Account Manager is committed to delivering a consistently impeccable experience to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Assist Account Executive in on-boarding new business.
Create RFP’s to obtain quotes direct from carriers to produce a comprehensive analysis of available options per their request.
Client Retention Pro-actively manage all Employee Benefits clients as defined by each service plan for each client relationship.
Provide prompt, accurate, and courteous service to clients, peers, carrier reps and Associates.
Return calls before the end of the business day.
Deliver on promises made to the client.
Handle daily service requests such as:
Assisting with Carrier Online Tools. Obtaining employee ID cards. Assistance with difficult claims. Plan eligibility. Compliance guidance. HR inquiries. Value-added services.
Ensure client is trained on the use of both proprietary tools and those of the carriers’ they are insured with. Renewals Maintain Group Benefit accounts. Renew group- send renewal emails to clients. Follow up for renewal forms and submit to carriers.
Systems Data: Responsible for the build, and accuracy of new and existing data and maintenance of all client activity in the agency automation system(s). Keep the Client fully informed of all important activities on their accounts.
Required Skills & Proficiencies: Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to learn agency automation systems and other automation/internet programs as required. Proficient in the use of Windows-based operating system and Microsoft Office products (2010 or above), including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with systems such as Brokerage Builder, Employee Navigator are highly favorable. Strong typing skills. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to respond to requests effectively and efficiently.
Proficient knowledge of Group Benefits products, HR, compliance, programs and carrier sites. Strong communication skills – active listening, writing, social perceptiveness.
Education/ Experience: College degree preferred but not required. High School Degree or Equivalent is required. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in Employee Benefits (preferably with an independent agency/broker) is necessary.
Professional designation is a plus. Valid Michigan Health license preferred, but not required to start. You will be required to obtain within first six months of employment.
