Position Overview:
Provides support in all areas of Human Resources with special emphasis on employee relations, managing employee recruitment, selection, orientation, benefits, safety and compensation tasks.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Ensures implementation of company programs, policies, and activities that promote sound employee relations and maintenance of nonunion status, promoting prompt resolution of grievances and employee problems.
Directs and assists in internal and external recruitment activities for hourly positions, assuring that properly qualified individuals are recruited and hired.
Assists in keeping employees informed of all changes in policies, counsels employees on policies and interpersonal problems. Assists in the solution and appropriate response to complaints received.
Coordinates and participates with supervision in disciplinary or termination procedures involving hourly employees.
Oversees and provides training on HR and Payroll systems and other HRIS software to ensure accuracy of data and timely processing of information.
Manages performance appraisal process and merit / compensation adjustment process for hourly workforce.
Administers and maintains FMLA, Short term Disability, workers’ compensation and personal leaves in accordance with law and company policies. Processes claims and tracts time away from work
Coordinates all temporary help arrangements for the plant. Interfaces with the local agency representatives to ensure quality service.
Provides back-up support for salaried workforce and assists the HR Manager with special projects and administrative support as requested.
Enrolls new employees in benefit plans, assists with benefit problems, and issues COBRA letters when needed. Benefits include Health, Dental, 401K, FSA, Life, and disability plans.
Processes employee data updates associated with changes in benefits and or salaries, including new hire enrollments, changes of status, terminations, merit increases, transfers, etc.
Compiles accident reports for workers compensation and provides information to carrier. Works closely with workers compensation carrier and attorneys in providing background documentation. Researches files and records to gather pertinent information for worker’s compensation claims, investigations. Participates in legal worker’s compensation hearings and mediations.
Provides first-aid care to employees with occupational injuries and illnesses. Directs emergency cases to the Company’s urgent care provider and continually follows up with the provider until care is no longer needed.
Checks release to work papers from physicians and interfaces with supervisors regarding return to work, light duty restrictions, accommodations and temporary job placements as needed.
Generates and maintains the OSHA 300 Log for Pool, Industrial and Remote Divisions.
Develops monthly safety training topics with HR Manager. Generates all training materials for all meetings including, handouts, test and Power Point presentations
Maintains written safety programs, manuals and training records.

Qualifications:
Must be knowledgeable of HR/Payroll or other time/attendance system. Proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word for Windows at an advanced level. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business news, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objections, tools, or controls; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The general work environment is an office setting. Employee will frequently need to visit the production area where the noise level is moderate to noisy and lots of walking is required. Safety glasses are required when on the plant floor.
