Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the clinical research strategic plan
• Maintain external relationships relating to advocacy and clinical evidence synthesis o Lead strategic initiatives to drive endorsement of remote monitoring in colorectal surgical clinical practice guidelines o Lead Scientific Advisory Board planning and execution, medical education strategy and medical information process o Identify, establish and expand relationships with key opinion leaders, clinical and research leaders including academicians, clinicians, medical directors and other

HCPs, and provide regular support and education regarding disease state awareness and clinical data

• Coordinate internal activities relating to clinical research o Protocol development and IRB review for internal clinical research o Close coordination with R&D, software and data science teams on matters relating to human subjects research
• Leadership of Medical Communications, including publication planning, scientific content development, congress activities, promotional review, and medical information
• Lead medical and scientific support of Sales and Marketing including development and review of promotional and training materials
• Provide scientific and medical support of Market Access and Reimbursement initiatives to demonstrate the value of proprietary tests (including presentations to medical directors, preparation of slides, clinical dossiers, executive summaries, etc.)
• Develop and lead an internal research and medical team o Research coordinator o Research nurse o Grant writer/ medical writer

Organizational Relationships:

• Reports to Chief Medical Officer
• Works closely with Research and Development, Data Science, Marketing, Sales and the company senior leadership

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate will have an advanced degree (PhD, MD) with at least [7] years of industry experience in Medical Affairs
• Experience managing and building Medical Affairs teams
• Colorectal/ general surgical or gastroenterological training with a research and publication record preferred (training in a relevant nursing specialty such as WOCN will be considered if other requirements are met)
• Willingness to travel

• Familiarity with chronic digestive diseases, monitoring fluid and electrolyte biomarkers, or remote care management programs a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to explain complex scientific concepts in a clear manner, as well as have the know-how to discuss clinical data with wound ostomy continence nurses, surgeons and gastroenterologists
• A successful track record of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and highly adaptable to functioning in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with close attention to detail; ability to communicate complex scientific concepts in a compelling and concise manner that is understandable to various internal and external stakeholders
• Strategic thinker, with strong attention to detail and successful history of producing results
• Strong interpersonal skills and outstanding collaborative skills; proven track record and success in building relationships with internal and external collaborators and having scientific discourse with medical and scientific experts
• Experience working with non-clinical cross-functional internal teams
• Flexible, adaptable, self-motivated, able to prioritize, and able to manage/progress volume of work with minimal supervision individually and as part of a cross-functional team
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong organizational skills; comfortable picking up new skills, and working in a flexible, fast-paced and high growth environment
• High level of proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $200,000.00 – $230,000.00 per year
