JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Utilities Superintendent, the Heavy Equipment Operator operates a variety of heavy equipment in the maintenance, repair, and construction of water/waste water collection systems and related facilities. Participates in general maintenance and labor activities as necessary for timely completion of projects and/or work orders.

RECEIVES direct supervision from the Utilities Superintendent and/or Senior Heavy Equipment Operator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in heavy equipment operation and construction experience. Posses or obtain a class D TCEQ certification in water/wastewater within 1 year and possess or obtain a class C TCEQ certification in water/wastewater within a 2-year period. Must possess a Class B CDL preferably with tanker endorsement.

Health / Medical
The City offers three health insurance plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield. The City pays 100% of
the employee only premium of the EPO-HSA Plan.
The City will contribute $50 to the employee’s HSA plan and will match employee contribution up to
$25 per month.
Dental / Vision
The City offers dental insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield. The City pays 100% of the employee
only premium.
Vision insurance is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield, and covers routine eye exams and other
procedures. This cost is covered by the employee.
Long Term Disability
The City pays for long term disability through Dearborn which covers 60% of an employee’s monthly
earnings up to $7,500 maximum per month.
Life Insurance/AD&D
The City pays 1x the employee’s salary or a minimum of $50,000 in Life Insurance coverage for all
employees. Additional coverage is available at the employee’s cost.
Retirement – TMRS
The City is a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System (“TMRS”). Employees contribute 7% of
their gross income on a pre-tax basis.
The City matches 2-1. Employees are vested after 5 years of employment. Employees are eligible to
retire with 5 years of service at age 60 or with 25 years of service at any age.
