Elementary Teacher – Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
An elementary school teacher at Hillel Academy is responsible for providing general studies education services
(Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) to students in a classroom setting. He/she instructs students, communicates well with parents and colleagues, maintains student discipline, and is responsible for student academic achievement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following (and other duties may be assigned as needed):
1. Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for the course(s) taught.
2. Creates lesson plans, aligned with current state and school standards, which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation.
3. Maintains a safe, organized classroom, which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration, and choice.
4. Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
5. Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction
6. Provide consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and asks analytical questions that elicit students’ responses that incorporate prior knowledge, life experience, and interests that are directly related to the content objective.
7. Monitor and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectation in which most students are engaged, incorporates mutual respect, and provides cooperative learning opportunities.
8. Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance students’ learning experiences.
9. Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating in a tactful, courteous, and confidential manner.
10. Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work. Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities and committees.
11. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrators to formulate and complete professional development plans.
12. Maintains a professional appearance, and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
13. Engages parents and guardians in the education of their children.
14. Does not engage in discriminatory practices on any basis, including race, origin, gender, socioeconomic status, disability, religion, or political beliefs.
15. Prepares report cards and progress reports.
16. Facilitates conferences with students and parents.
17. Completes required paperwork in a specified time and manner.
18. Conducts appropriate assessments of students’ work and maintains accurate and regular data on students in areas of attendance, grades, and IEP progress, if applicable.
19. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
20. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by law and by school policy.
21. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
22. Attends work regularly and is punctual.
23. Attends in-service training.
24. Attends staff meetings.
25. Substitutes for other teachers, as necessary.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university. Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent strongly preferred. Prior successful teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Computer Skills:
General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use, e-mail, internet, and Google applications.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction and of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young students. Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods. Ability to meet timelines and exercise good judgment while working in a dynamic environment. ƒ
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A valid teaching certificate or on track to obtain a valid teaching certificate

Pay: $30,789.00 – $57,703.00 per year
