Hiram College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Academic Development.

The Assistant Director of Academic Development will serve the campus in supporting students who are on academic probation, students who are at risk of suspension, students who would like to perform at a higher level academically, and in providing and managing all tutoring services (both drop-in ARCH and 1:1) for students who request assistance. The Assistant Director will also support students with identified learning disabilities to provide them with the accommodations they need to be successful. The Assistant Director will also teach STDV courses and help to train others in teaching Experiments in Effective Learning when needed for first-time probation students. The Assistant Director will also serve on a series of committees on campus as needed.
The Assistant Director of Academic Development will support students in their academic success by meeting with all academic probation students within the first two weeks of every semester (Fall, Spring, Summer), manage the data and work with students submitted through the Early Intervention Report, and meet with students who are on or at risk of probation throughout the semester. The Assistant Director of Academic Development will also run intervention reports after midterms and the end of the 12-week and meet with students who are identified of being at risk. The Assistant Director of Academic Development must be familiar with the academic probation policy and be able to communicate that policy to students, staff, and faculty. Besides working with students who are on or at risk of being on academic probation, the Assistant Director will also work with students to support their academic success through academic coaching and programming.
The Assistant Director of Academic Development will oversee and manage all aspects of the tutoring program at Hiram College, including ARCH and 1:1 tutoring. This includes, but is not limited to, hiring and training tutors, filling 1:1 requests with qualified tutors in a timely manner, hiring and training lead tutors, and the evaluation and assessment of student tutors. In collaboration with the GA for Career and Academic Development, the Assistant Director of Academic Development will monitor the GroupMe ARCH Tutor chat to answer questions and find solutions to any issues or tutor absences. The Assistant Director will create the schedules for ARCH Tutoring and maintain the online Moodle site for ARCH and 1:1 Tutors.
The Assistant Director will handle any issue(s) that arise during ARCH. The Assistant Director of Academic Development will also oversee and train the Graduate Assistant for Career and Academic Development. The Assistant Director will also work to prepare reports and data including but not limited to, reports for athletic coaches in reference to required student-athlete hours in tutoring, and tutoring hours/assistance requested by students for the ARB meetings. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the oversight of the Academic Development budget.
