Hitachi Energy is seeking a 2nd Shift Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) Specialist for its South Boston, VA manufacturing facility. This role encompasses analyzing and driving change in current and proposed facility processes toward expectations for regulatory compliance, reduction of HSE risks, and sustainability improvements.
Your responsibilities
- Monitor employees and supervisors to ensure all HSE procedures are being performed adequately and in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
- Conduct economic studies and prepare or lead the preparation of specifications, proposals for contracts, licensing, and safety documents, and obtain required approvals
- As required, responsible for technical HSE direction and minor administrative guidance of a small group of engineers and assistants
- Assist and direct accident investigation, analyze and report trends regarding injuries, incidents, and environmental performance
- Support key health and safety programs: contractor management, risk assessments, industrial hygiene, confined space entry, control of hazardous energy, and various OSHA standard as well other consensus standard compliance
- Lead health and safety, sustainability, and pollution prevention/waste minimization initiatives
Your background
- Bachelor degree in safety, occupational health, Environmental, engineering, or related field and five (5) or more years of experience
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the US
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience with OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 a plus
- CHMM and / or CSP a plus
