JOB GOAL: The Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for supporting student learning by helping to recruit, retain and support highly qualified certified and support staff in a safe learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Education.
2. Experience in Human Resources, preferably in a K-12 setting, or experience working in a school district as an educator or administrator.
3. Extensive experience with the use of technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates a program for recruitment, selection and assignments of the best qualified certified and support personnel.
2. Develops, evaluates, and ensures a fair, consistent, and legal selection process for prospective employees.
3. Provides necessary support and processing for issuance and renewal of relevant state certification and licensure for certified and support personnel.
4. Oversees the use of technology for the collection, maintenance and analysis of data related to personnel.
5. Supports the Chief Human Resources Officer in their overall administrative efforts; interprets their ideas and decisions to staff and public; keeps them informed of pertinent developments and events; seeks their counsel or decision as necessary.
6. Certifies classifications and salaries/wages to the Office of Financial Services.
7. Develops and ensures a confidential and efficient system of management for personnel records.
8. Reviews and approves all employee eligibility for leaves of absence, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, etc.
9. Recruits, supports, and organizes resources for substitute teachers and assigns them to schools as needed through the substitute calling system.
10. Designs, reviews and modifies the job descriptions used in the District, working collaboratively with employees and supervisors to ensure mutual agreement and unanimity of purpose.
11. Prepares and distributes recruiting materials, including but not limited to creative and effective use of the District website, social media and related advertising.
12. Cooperates with college and university schools of education and with career guidance offices regarding applicants and processes student teacher placement requests with building administration.
13. Coordinates the implementation of mandatory trainings, new hire paperwork, reference checks/background checks, and related notifications for all applicants and employees to comply with state and District requirements.
14. Works collaboratively with District leadership on development and implementation of compensation systems and performance evaluations for all staff.
15. Assists with the District’s employee wellness program.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Human Resources Officer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school offices/classrooms/passageways). Shall complete a physical examination as required by Wisconsin Statute 118.25.
