$6,121.97 – $6,6436.79 – $6,766.82 – $7,113.24 – $7,478.38 – $7,861.08  (Includes 2% COLA effective 7-1-22)

The City is currently seeking to fill one (1) position within the Human Resources Department, assigned to Classification and Compensation with the Staff Development Division.  This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Human Resources and is an integral member of the team who focuses upon classification and compensation for positions throughout the City.  This individual works independently with subject matter experts to conduct studies, collect compensation/benefit data and prepare detailed analytical reports. 

 
The ideal candidate will possess public sector experience in classification and compensation. The candidate will conduct desk audits, provide detailed analysis of individual positions and classifications, revise existing job descriptions, create new job descriptions, conduct salary/benefit surveys, analyze data, and make compensation and salary recommendations.  In addition the candidate will be a team player and be able to work collaboratively with department heads and managers; quickly adapt to changing situations; manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously in a very busy environment; be detailed-oriented; and devise creative methods and solutions for classification and compensation issues.

Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.
Incumbents work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Mondays through Thursdays; 8:00 am to 5:00 on Friday, with every other Friday off.  Some after-hours may be required.

Under general direction, the Human Resources Analyst performs a variety of professional activities of varying levels of complexity in support of a centralized human resources system, including recruitment and selection, job analysis, classification and compensation plan administration, equal employment, and/or other designated functions; performs related work as assigned.  

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Human Resources Analyst II is the journey level of the series, fully competent to perform a wide variety of professional-level duties. While primary assignments may be concentrated in one or two of the specialist human resource areas, incumbents are expected to perform work in any of the defined areas as workload and training needs dictate. This class is distinguished from Senior Human Resources Analyst in that the latter may provide lead direction to Analysts and/or support staff in a specific functional area, and perform the most complex and technical activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
 
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in business or public administration, industrial relations, or a related field and two (2) years of professional-level experience in a centralized human resources system, which has included experience in classification and compensation. Experience in a public agency setting is desirable.
 
Other Requirements:
 
Specified positions may require possession of a valid California driver’s license.
