IAM National Pension Fund Hiring for Human Resources Director Job at Washington, DC Full Time

The IAM National Pension Fund is looking for an experienced Human Resources Director to ensure that all human resources operations are carried on smoothly and effectively. The HR Director will be responsible for developing HR strategies and providing sound advice to the Executive Director and Executive Leadership Team. The HR Director must be an experienced professional with deep knowledge of all matters concerning a HR Department. The Director will manage programs and lead staff while also possessing a strong strategic mindset. The goal is to ensure that all HR needs of the IAM National Benefit Funds office are being met and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Oversee the hiring process, including advertising open positions, reviewing resumes, coordinating and conducting interviews, conducting reference and background checks
• Provide support and guidance to HR Manager, HR Generalist, Payroll and Benefits Specialist, Fund Management and other staff when complex, specialized and sensitive questions and issues arise
• Oversee all HR initiatives, systems and tactics
• Review and assist in compensation management
• Serve as the point of contact for Shop Stewards and Union
• Participate in Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations
• Deal with grievances and violations
• Anticipate and resolve litigation risks
• Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards
• Oversee the daily workflow of the department
• Maintain HR Metrics and provide reports to the Board of Trustees
• Oversee the FMLA and ADA process
• Approve bi-weekly payroll and identify issues in employee time tracking
• Oversee the annual employee review process
• Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with CBA and Fund policies
• Develop and implement the HR Department’s annual budget

• Ensure job descriptions are up-to-date and in compliance with FSLA requirements
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law
• Perform other strategic HR activities as periodically established in collaboration with the Executive Director and other members of the Executive Leadership Team

• Ability to quickly learn the Funds HRIS and payroll system
• Possess a strong personal value system that encompasses high integrity, honesty, a solid work ethic, and high professional standard

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or related field required
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or other professional HR designation highly preferred
• A minimum of 10 years of human resource management experience required
• Prior experience working with union personnel/unionized staff and knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements a must

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 – $145,000.00 per year
