Your Role and Responsibilities
The right person for this job will have extensive experience developing and maintaining software for running quantum computing experiments. You might come from an experimental, theoretical, or numerical background but should have familiarity with a variety of techniques for pulse optimization, gate calibration, noise characterization, and error mitigation. The primary focus of this role is to contribute to the development of open-source software tools further enabling cutting-edge experimental quantum computing research through a Qiskit based software stack. A secondary focus is to collaborate closely with IBM Quantum researchers to develop and implement novel methods to improve the performance of IBM Quantum devices.
The location for this role is Yorktown Heights, NY area or remote.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Graduate degree in quantum computing or related field with experience running or simulating experiments
Experience with a variety of quantum characterization, verification, and validation (QCVV) techniques
Familiarity with methods for gate optimization and calibration
Working knowledge of python programming, with experience contributing to software projects in at least one programming language
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Advanced knowledge of quantum information theory
Experience with Bayesian parameter estimation
Extensive knowledge of python development
Comfortable with collaborate software methodologies (code review, design docs, etc.)
