The WordPress Developer (WPD) role will be responsible for a successful execution for a range of projects that are focused on building, launching, and maintaining client websites and digital collateral across multiple platforms.
The type of projects that the WPD might work on are:
- WordPress builds where the WPD will be actively building the site from scratch.
- WordPress builds where the WPD will assist in taking a website developed by a third party to the ‘finish line’.
- Revamping and reorganizing a client’s HubSpot template set up
- Implementation of SEO optimizations on existing customer websites
- Development of misc. digital collateral, web applications, or tools.
Day-to-day activities may include:
- Building HubSpot landing pages
- Building flexible email templates
- Working with the development team to plan and build a large WordPress site.
- Doing a code review with the other team members
- Providing technical specifications to a 3rd party development team.
- Planning out flexible content for a website or template
Core Desired Skillsets
- Experience building WordPress websites/templates from scratch.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, and jQuery.
- Knowledge of code versioning tools, such as Git.
- Comfortable working with the command line.
- Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug.
- Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
- Good communication skills.
Secondary Desired Skillsets
- Experience working with design software, such as Adobe CC.
- Experience working in HubSpot and building landing pages or email templates.
- Knowledge of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) principles.
- Experience with server administration.
- Comfortable researching solutions independently.
Output creation
- Manage websites using WordPress
- Manage front-end and back-end website development
- Maintain well-documented, reusable, and transferrable code
- Effectively communicate competitive findings, conceptual ideas, and development rationale both verbally and visually.
- Work closely with the creative team to ensure that design specifications are implemented.
- Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other developers, project management, marketing strategists, and designers.
Project management
- Assist with project estimates.
Team satisfaction
- Constant communication and utilization of existing ideometry resources where needed.
Other responsibilities
- Collaborate with members of a creative team
- Manage front-end and back-end website development
- Create WordPress plug-ins and themes
- Troubleshoot and resolve website problems for clients and co-workers
- Designing and implementing new features and functionality
- Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
- Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.
- Ideate on and develop unique web resources and tools for clients.
About the position:
This is a full-time, salaried position. It is fully remote and will be operating on a roughly 9AM to 5 PM EST daily schedule.
