The Hart Career Center, reporting to the division of Student Affairs, is the university’s centralized career planning and
employment assistance service for students and graduates. The Assistant Director for Career Development provides oversight
and leadership in the areas of career counseling, educational outreach, and career readiness. This is a full time, on-campus position, 10
months/yr. (August 1-May 31) Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off and tuition assistance.
Responsibilities:
Career Counseling; provide individual career guidance, coaching, and
advising to students by appointment and drop-in hours; provide individual resume and cover letter view and assistance; coach students to
develop short and long-term internship and job seeking strategies; provide support to students in consultation with Academic Advising
Educational outreach; conduct campus outreach activities regarding career development; design and present workshops and
seminars related to career development, graduate school preparation and job search process; collaborate with other University departments,
academic student affairs to provide services to students
Career readiness implementation; develop and carry out a strategy
to engage students in interview preparation; coordinate targeted mentorship programs; connect students with alumni through the development
of a mentoring database; develop career preparation resources for international, first generation, and underrepresented group
Marketing; oversee all marketing campaigns for the center, including social media, publicity and outreach; craft, implement and evaluate
marketing efforts to promote career information to students; supervise marketing student and publicity coordinator paraprofessionals
Graduate/Professional School Preparation; assist students with the graduate school selection/application process; keep current
on graduate school trends
Requirements:
Bachelor’s required, Master’s
degree preferred
Three years’ relevant experience, particularly in career guidance and preparation
Knowledge of career development practices, student development theory and program administration
