POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Independent Living Services Program Assistant

Status: Full time, Hourly

Reports to: Independent Living Services Program Director

Position Summary: Provides general clerical support
to the ILS Program staff as directed in a fast-paced office
environment. Duties include data entry, word processing, project
assistance, filing, typing, collating, mailings, provide relief phone
coverage, organizational support, provide transportation for staff
either in own vehicle or agency van.

Position Expected Hours of Work: There may be some
variability in the weekly schedule, but typical hours are 8:00am to
4:30pm, Monday through Friday, 40 hours weekly; some evenings.
Position is housed and primarily operates out the IndependenceFirst
main office and provides services throughout our service area as needed.

Essential Functions of the Position:

1. Clerical support: data entry, word processing (MS Word Suite
   including EXCEL), project assistance, provide relief phone coverage,
   filing, collating, mailings, scheduling appointments, organizational
   support, and provide transportation for staff, take and transcribe
   meeting notes for the department.
2. Assist other staff with organizing and follow-through of special
   projects as assigned.
3. Provide transportation for staff using safe driving practices
   using the agency van or own vehicle.
4. When needed, provide physical assistance support to staff, such as
   carrying or wheeling materials, assistance when walking on slippery
   surfaces, assistance with getting in and out of a vehicle, etc.

1. Work environment is generally performed in an office setting with
   minimal to moderate noise level.

Professional Qualifications

1. Knowledge and ability to use office equipment including computer,
   copier, and fax machine, etc.
2. Knowledge and ability to use M.S. Word products including EXCEL.
3. Good organizational skills.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Ability to follow directions and work independently. Must be flexible.
6. Ability to positively interact with a variety of people.
7. Attention to detail with accuracy required.
8. Must have valid driver’s license without a history of moving violations.
9. Must have own transportation with insurance.
10. Must have good judgment skills.
11. Must be punctual, dependable and reliable.
12. Must not object to transporting service animal.
13. Must represent self in a professional manner.
14. Must possess a positive attitude with the ability to work as a
    team member.
15. Must respect the confidentiality of the individuals who are transported.
16. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
