Director – HR – Compensation and Job Classification

Location: Remote (within Massachusetts preferred)
Our client in Massachusetts is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to review, support, and facilitate collaborative problem-solving and decision making, communication, and consistency
regarding all classification, compensation, and performance management issues and transactions. The successful candidate will have an understanding of classification and compensation principles and working knowledge
of market competitive pay practices to provide consultative best practices. This position will play an essential role within client’s Classification and Compensation Unit while partnering with the Unit Director, Directors
of Employment & Staffing, Talent Acquisition, and other stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Manage salary administration and compensation processes as a manager within the client Classification and Compensation Unit;
– Monitor assigned classification, compensation, and performance management activities;
– Review hiring requests for appropriate classification and compensation information and respond to classification and compensation inquiries;
– Determine salary placement for management and non-management positions;
– Assist in the Employee Performance Management Review (EPRS) process
– Develop and modify job specifications
– Conduct classification and compensation market research and surveys;
– Analyze classification and compensation data and metrics;
– Develop and implement procedures and guidelines to meet and accomplish all program goals and objectives;
– Provide on-the-job training for all staff and stakeholders, maintain, review records and prepare reports and memoranda for content, accuracy, and completeness;
– Participate and provide feedback on strategies for business process redesign.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of Human Resources and compensation structures including market salary, pay surveys, job analysis, and relevant classification and compensation topics;
– Understanding of the Massachusetts Equal Pay Act (MEPA);
– General understanding of federal/state wage, salary laws and regulations utilizing methods of job evaluation; Hay Guide Chart Profile method a plus;
– Demonstrated experience with data analytics and maintenance; ability to see through the data and analyze it to find conclusions;
– Ability to collect, analyze statistical data, and generate reports along with experience effectively and persuasively presenting data and explaining technical issues to various staff;
– Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-group collaboration skills; adept at managing relationships both internally and externally;
– Capacity to take an initiative and lead on projects, while also being able to take direction when needed;
– Professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
– Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint; Prior experience with HRCMS, (or relevant HRIS/Oracle product) and Applicant Tracking system such as Taleo.
