This position is assigned to the Communications and Community Relations Office, Intergovernmental and Community Relations Department, and is responsible for assisting the Communications Director with the statewide courts’ and Judiciary programs’ informational and communication needs.
The position independently develops and disseminates information to the general public and targets audiences via the Internet and other electronic means of communication. The work involves project management, writing, research, design, and communications via electronic means and frequent contact with persons within and outside the Judiciary.
Education Requirement: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Excess experience of the type and quality described below, or any other progressively responsible professional, technical or analytical work experience which required a high degree of language skills may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
General Experience: Two (2) years experience in: (a) information research and dissemination, i.e., gathering pertinent information and preparing the materials for publication or news release; or (b) public relations work which required establishing and maintaining effective relations with public information and communication media.
Specialized Experience: Two (2) years experience in organizing, planning and conducting a program to disseminate information about the activities and/or plans of an organization to the general public or to individuals especially affected by or interested in the organization’s work. The experience must include dissemination of information through a variety of media on a continuous basis, i.e., television, radio, newspapers, publications, etc.
Substitution of Specialized Experience for General Experience: Excess experience of the type and quality described in the Specialized Experience section above may be substituted for General Experience on a year-for-year basis.
Quality of Experience: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant’s overall experience must have been of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
Selective Certification Requirement – Develop & Maintain Websites: One (1) year of progressively responsible work in the development and maintenance of websites. This experience can be gained concurrently with the General and Specialized Experience requirements.
Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of web languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
