The Library’s Automation unit is a key component to fulfilling this mission. Information Systems Specialists work to ensure that systems operated by staff and those operated by the public continue to work smoothly. The public’s use of public computers is one of the elements the Library utilizes to champion personal and community engagement and provide easy and equitable access to library services. Keeping staff systems running helps ensure the public experience remains a positive one as records and date remain at staff’s fingertips.

This classification is also used by the Employment and Human Services Department. The eligible list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill those vacancies.
Education: Possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science or a closely related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, or its equivalent, experience in use, installation, and evaluation of personal computer software packages for a variety of applications.
Substitution: Additional experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.
One year of additional experience may be substituted when possessing one of the following current and valid certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA), or CompTIA Net+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Associate.
Tentative Virtual Oral Assessment: March 17, 2022
The oral assessment is administered remotely using a computer. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to participate in the assessment.
CONVICTION HISTORY
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with Contra Costa County. If you accept a conditional job offer, the Human Resources department will contact you to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.
DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
