Integrity Educational Services is currently seeking a full-time certified Elementary Teacher to serve Lighthouse Academy Eagle Village. The elementary classroom at Eagle Village is small classroom serving older elementary age students who have experienced trauma and are currently living in a residential care facility.

At our Lighthouse Academy locations, we offer residential programs serving youth and adults in detention facilities, correctional facilities or intervention-based programs as well as community programs serving court-placed students, English Language Learners (ELL), students with Special Education needs, etc. Hope Academy is a general charter school in Grand Rapids, MI serving a large population of ELL and Title I qualifying students.

GENERAL PURPOSE: To be responsible for providing appropriate education experiences to meet the needs of youth enrolled in all programs. The Teacher is accountable to the Principal and functions as a member of the school team, which consists of classroom teachers, instructional support staff, school social workers, the principal and the administrative assistant. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, experience, competencies, knowledge and skills are listed below.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability or competence required.
Education and/or Experience: Teaching degree from an accredited college or university, certification required (or provisional certification with intent to become fully certified). Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally impaired adolescents is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematic Skills: Ability to do simple computations, calculate percentages, and use a calculator.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply verbal de-escalation skills as part of crisis intervention.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Google and/or Microsoft applications and/or willingness to learn needed computer skills specific to this position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Michigan teaching certification with an Elementary K-5 (K-8 All Subjects, Self Contained) endorsement highly preferred. Must meet highly qualified status according to the Michigan Department of Education for the subjects being taught. We will consider a candidate who is not currently certified but is interested in either adding an Elementary endorsement to their current certificate or becoming a certified teacher.
Training: Must participate in and complete annual training, Professional Development, and various other training as deemed appropriate for position.
Other Qualifications: Must pass criminal history records search, physical and drug screen, if required.

Pay: $40,000 – $66,349 per year, DOE
The contracted teaching days will be 185 days/school year. In addition, the teacher will be eligible to work up to an additional school days at a rate of $200/day.
