Role Overview:
The Human Resources Generalist supports and partners with the Human Resources Manager to run the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. As a member of the HR team, you will bring your knowledge and experience in the following areas, including, but not limited to: recruitment and onboarding, HRIS management, benefits and leave administration, compliance, and employee relations and development.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
Support hiring managers with their recruitment needs, including, but not limited to: reviewing job descriptions, posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews and managing the ATS (BambooHR)
Coordinate offer letters, backgrounds, reference checks, and maintain communication with candidates
Manage new hire onboarding and conduct 30-day check-ins to improve processes
Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, including maintaining the employee handbook, and managing staff communication
Stay up to date in knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in HR and employment law
Administer BambooHR (HRIS), ensuring employee records are accurate, up to date, and compliant
Train new employees on BambooHR system
Respond to employee queries regarding policies, benefits, compensation, etc. as needed
Manage extended leave of absence requests and associated paperwork/tracking/benefits, as needed
Coordinate and facilitate the payroll process with finance department
Manage I-9 process and conduct refresher training to authorized employer reps
Work with Quality department to ensure current job descriptions for each position are on file for compliance purposes
Respond to employee verification and unemployment requests
Manage the offboarding process and conduct exit interviews
Order and post all required employment law posters and notices
Complete special projects as needed or requested
All other duties as assigned
Job qualifications:
3+ years of experience in HR
Knowledge of and experience in applying federal, state, and local laws as it relates to employment policies and practices with the ability and interest to stay up to date
Excitement and desire to work in a fast-paced environment during a period of growth, where there are many opportunities to create and build systems and processes
High degree of discretion, professional ethics, and judgment
Innate sense of ownership with demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction
Strong communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and customer service
Experience working with BambooHR, or comparable HRIS systems
Preferred work experience in the biotechnology or life sciences industry
