POSITION SUMMARY
The Launch Quality Engineer is responsible for all aspects of new launch activity & supplier quality concerns including but not limited to plant and warranty returns. The supply base entails components that are used in the kitting and manufacturing of our ROSTRA & Vehicle Safety Manufacturing (VSM) assemblies. This position may also act as a resource and/or backup for our Remote Start Accessory & Rear Seat Entertainment Line.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop cadence of formal communication for supply base.
· Partner with Quality Mgr. and Purchasing to execute Supplier chargebacks when performance does not meet agreed upon quality metrics.
· Initiate and follow-thru on Corrective Actions for launch customer / supplier concerns; this includes but is not limited to: chargebacks, sort activity, 8Ds, internal / plant containment and Corrective Action completeness.
· Maintain Launch APQP / Supplier metrics and scorecards to be distributed to VOXXAutomotive management and all top suppliers (where applicable).
· Create and update Controlled Documents: PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flows, etc.
· Manage the Quality Alert Files throughout the plant for supplier-related concerns.
· Support Lean Manufacturing training.
· Play an active role in Continuous Improvement initiatives by submitting a minimum number of projects outlined by management.
· Responsible for Incoming / dock audits and manage accordingly for supplier related concerns.
· Coordinate customer launch / supplier quality related issues and activities within the company.
· Lead and drive quality improvements with the cross functional teams.
· Conduct employee training on any supplier-related issues.
· Support all aspects of our Quality Management System.
· Mentor teams both internal and external of department to commit to zero defect mentality.
· Support new launch activities including but not limited to all elements of PPAP.
· Incorporate Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques throughout the organization.
· Ad hoc projects as assigned by management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Demonstrate ability to work successfully in team situations requiring capability to develop and implement initiatives across departments and cross-functional teams.
· Ability to multi-task while overseeing multiple projects and/or multiple OE customers / suppliers.
· Ability to assess priorities in a complex and demanding environment with minimum supervision while displaying strong self-motivation.
· Knowledge of IATF16949 requirements including but not limited to APQP, PPAP, and FMEA processes. Experience with major Tier1 / OE customers preferred.
· Strong degree of computer knowledge and PC tools – both generic and position specific, including strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Products – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Minitab.
· Basic understanding of electronic principles, vehicle/large truck electronics and wiring.
· Must be able to demonstrate the following attributes: Adaptability, flexibility, excellent organization skills, multitasking, and possess moderate analytical and moderate communication skills.
· Must have the ability to develop solutions for moderate to complex problems or systems.
· Excellent time management, problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering or related field (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience)
· Minimum of 5 years of related experience in or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Specific Experience: minimum of 3-5 years of experience within the automotive industry preferred.
TRAVEL
· This position may require up to 40% of travel both domestic and international.
