Senior Accountant

Assertively lead the accounting group in conducting day to day accounting, payroll, accounts payable processing and month-end period close. Responsible for supervising, executing, monitoring, and evaluating all daily accounting activities. Serves as a consultant for managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and helping to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization. In addition, you will be establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Manage the daily activities of the accounting department including the management of the team, training and development, and team employee relations.

• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management and accounting.

• Oversee the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable and general ledger adjustments.

• Lead month-end close with staff, including reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.

• Prepare monthly financial statements for analysis and compare actual results to forecasts.

• Income statement variance analysis of actual vs. budget and current month vs. prior periods.

• Collect and provide information for audit inquiries and give assistance to auditors.

• Reconcile the operating bank account daily and others on a monthly basis. Review operating account activity daily for fraud or unusual transactions.

• Develop policies, systems, reports, and financial studies to support and analyze the financial condition of the organization.

• Maintain a system of controls to ensure data integrity and perform regular audits on accounting transactions.

• Administer fixed asset and depreciation schedules.

• Ensure proper classification of accounts and processing of intercompany charges and journal entries.

• Manage, evaluate, cross-train and develop staff for optimal efficiency and teamwork.

• Other duties as assigned by Director of Accounting or CFO.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required. Master’s degree or professional certification preferred.

• Must have strong computer skills, including Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot table, vLookup, formulas), and Word.

• Seven years general experience in all facets of accounting (e.g. A/P, A/R, budgeting, etc.).

• Three years’ experience in proactively coaching, developing, and motivating direct reports.

• Advanced Excel knowledge.

• High attention to detail and accuracy, as well as confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
