ISSA Hiring for Web Developer at Rosemont, IL Full Time

The Web Developer codes and constructs web functionality across a broad spectrum of web properties built within WordPress and other site builders, including complex forms and other custom features. This position helps support hosting for 40+ websites, coding on specific projects, and works closely with the departments to implement new initiatives.

This role executes timely updates and the ongoing maintenance of websites and online services, including managing site plugins and monitoring site-speed. This individual ensures quality control through code review, testing, and debugging software for accuracy, completeness, and system integrity. Documents development decisions and follows processes thoroughly. Performs other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with extensive technical expertise who can work collaboratively with our team and independently in the creation, maintenance, and updates of websites for internal customers. Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web services and program applications is essential to succeeding in this role. The web developer will have an immediate effect on our user experience across our web properties.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage 40+ web properties to ensure code, plugins, scripts and more are up to date
• Collaborate with the Marketing Department to support initiatives and goals, and provide project visibility
• Improve usability and accessibility of all web properties; optimize load times, responsiveness
• Build new web tools, forms, or other custom projects as needed
• Test web properties regularly for bugs or potential stability issues
• Monitor site backups to host server regularly
• Interact and maintain relationships with web service vendors and contractors
• Coordinate web form data integrations with Salesforce and other systems
• Utilize standards for web development processes and workflows; recommend potential improvements
• Stay current with web development best practices, technologies, and trends

Key Competencies

• Developing for web according to best practices and trends
• Current, in-depth knowledge and experience of HTML and CSS, PHP a plus
• General understanding of design in relation to user experience and following established style guides
• Experience with web hosting, backup/restore processes, multiple environments and upgrading CMSs and plugins smoothly with no downtime
• Knowledge of how to optimize for rapid page load
• Cross-browser compatibility including Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and major tablet/mobile browsers
• SSO, secure (HTTPS)
• Ability to independently manage time within a rapid production environment, with multiple projects and priorities
• Ability to understand department goals and translate into actionable items
• Ability to function as part of an interactive team while demonstrating self-initiative to achieve project’s goals and research computing center’s mission required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability required
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
• Git, SQL, PHP and .NET experience, a plus
• API development and Salesforce integrations, a plus
• AMS/CRM experience (ACGI, Fonteva, Salesforce), a plus
• Experience with SEO, a plus

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 4+ Years of website development experience
• 4+ Years of working with WordPress themes and other CMS and plugins
• 1+ Years of jQuery/Javascript/XML experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
