Warehouse Operations Manager – Position Description
Jensen Outdoor, a Sandston, VA based outdoor furniture manufacturer, is seeking an experienced candidate to manage day-to-day operations of our warehouse and limited production areas. This role involves managing the Warehouse (receiving, inventory and shipping), and eventually overseeing Cushion Production (loose cushions) and Furniture Assembly/Packaging areas; furniture frames are manufactured at company-owned, overseas factories. The ideal candidate must be a hands-on, interactive manager who possesses strong collaboration and organizational skills and has a keen eye for detail. Candidate must be available to work extended hours, especially during peak seasons. This position is located in the corporate warehouse/office and is a full-time, long-term permanent position with growth opportunities available for successful candidates. The Warehouse Operations Manager reports to the President.
Position Responsibilities:
Leadership, Morale, Relationships and Communications
· Act as a Leader in achieving Jensen Outdoor Goals and Objectives
· Display teamwork and maintain a positive attitude
· Communicate goals, objectives, strategies, results, and plans
· Participate in training, inspection, investigation, and continuous improvement programs
Operations
· Develop and administer effective operational and production schedules
· Lead regularly scheduled production/operations meetings with appropriate department supervisors
· Work closely with Sales Manager and Customer Service on production and shipping priorities
· On-going employee and inventory control training
· Coordinate cushion production and furniture assembly schedules to coincide with scheduled outbound shipments
· Coordinate receiving and unloading of in-bound containers from factories
· Control inventory levels by coordinating physical counts; reconciling with inventory management system and coordinating with company Financial Controller
· Ensure products are handled with care and properly protected for shipment
Employee Management
· Responsible for the hiring, training, direction, and evaluation of Warehouse employees
· Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
· Forklift operation experience; trains and certifies forklift operators
Safety
· Remain current on understanding of OSHA regulations to ensure safe/healthful working conditions
· Investigation of accidents and incidents to ensure required reporting is completed
· Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and resolve safety related concerns
Facility & Equipment
· Ensure compliance with industry, company, and sanitation standards, including making sure physical plant and warehouse equipment is free from hazards and meets legislated requirements
· Identify changes that increases work efficiency and have a positive impact on safety, quality, productivity
· Analyze current and future equipment requirements and provide feedback to President
Qualifications and Skills:
· Associate/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; High School diploma required
· Requires minimum 3 to 5 years warehouse and inventory control management experience
· Must have excellent organizational skills
· Strong leadership skills and proven ability to work well with others
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficient warehouse software (ERP/other) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) experience
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to lift 75 lbs. and handle/move furniture
