QAI and APL want talented staff who can work as part of a full lifecycle software team developing software applications that provide highly impactful capabilities. We provide ground-breaking technologies in response to a wide variety of national security threats, to include:
- Transform war fighter gear with innovative mobile technology. Connect mobile applications with sensors providing real-time decision-making results.
- Innovate, design, and develop modern UIs while working hands on with experts in military, chemistry, biology, artificial intelligence and data analysis fields.
- Take lead on pioneering analysis integrating the latest algorithms into software solutions to combat new outbreaks and threats.
- Learn new technologies, develop paradigms, and teach others through multi-disciplinary communities.

As a Software Engineer and Android Developer, you will…
- Design, implement, test, and deploy web and mobile applications in a dynamic, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.
- Interact with users to understand their operations, gather requirements and innovate new ways to improve efficiency.
- Survey academic research and engineer solutions to application development and deployment challenges.
- Document and present work on current research and development activities.
- Develop software to ingest, store, and analyze streaming data from many sources in varied environments.
- Engage in live test events, work with users, and communicate results.
Qualifications
You’ll meet our minimum requirements if you have…
- BA or BS in Computer Science or related engineering field.
- Experience in Android application development with Java and Kotlin.
- Comfort working with loosely defined or high-level requirements.
- Strong computer science, problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience working productively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
- Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

- M.S. in Computer Science or related engineering field.
- Technical leadership or software architecture experience
- Database experience with SQL, Realm.io, or Elasticsearch
- Familiarity with the latest UI frameworks like Jetpack Compose, VueJS, ReactJS
- Experience with client server communication protocols and data formats such as web services, REST, XML, or JSON.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks like Espresso, JUnit, Selenium
- Human factors experience including UI Design, Storyboarding, or HMI skills
