About us

JO’S Learning Academy is a birth to age 11 elementary school conveniently located on the North side of Milwaukee, WI. It’s nestled on the border of the Washington Heights neighborhood along North Avenue. Our complex is unique as it provides child care services for infants, toddlers and school age children in one beautiful location. Before and after care services are provided to families Monday through Friday and summer camp is offered annually. Our program focuses on the whole child starting at 6 weeks through 9 years old. Our future includes grade level expansion over the next few years.

Teaching Position

The early childhood teacher provides high quality instruction, implements the curriculum, and maintains a safe and nurturing classroom environment that is conducive to learning. The teacher will instruct students in all basic subjects and teach them valuable social and emotional skills. This is done through using hands-on lessons and creative play, to lay the foundation for future learning.

Essential Functions:

• Is knowledgeable about Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards, Common Core State Standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Understands growth and development of young children birth to age 3

• Prepares lesson plans for daily instruction and individualized learning for students.

• Confidently uses media/technology and other instructional aids to support learning.

• Assesses, documents and prepares reports such as achievement progress, grade and classroom performance, and attendance.

• Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in learning

• Communicates with parents/guardians regularly through multiple platforms.

• Attends staff meetings and collaborative planning with coworkers and administrative team.

• Participates in professional learning sessions and/or required conferences.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Must have previous experience working with early childhood children ages birth to age 3.

Child care credentials required or the ability to obtain within 6 months.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $14.00 – $17.00 per hour
