Human Resources Generalist

JOB SUMMARY: Supports business unit by implementing human resources programs; manages the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, organizational development, safety leadership and employment.

Duties:

• Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, employment processing, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, employee relations, and completing personnel transactions.
• Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
• Manages client expectations by resolving concerns.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Provides safety leadership by training, coaching and inspections to promote a culture of safety to include a safe and clean work environment
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assures the quality of work produced is acceptable to company standards and specifications
• Assures that employees follow procedures detailed in the Company Handbook, in other documents and follow all Safety Rules and Regulations
• Employment and compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting
• Employee orientation, development, and training
• Business unit employee communication
• Business unit benefits administration
• Performs job tasks with Worker Safety Being The Priority
• Maintains good attendance

Qualifications:

• Thorough knowledge of employment law, and federal and state regulations governing HR.
• Strong interest in producing high quality work product with a focus on continual improvement.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Express ideas, thoughts and concepts clearly and concisely.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and manage productive relationships at all levels, establish trust and respond to staff in a thoughtful, sensitive and timely manner.
• Must have sound judgment and the ability to use discretion in handling sensitive HR issues, along with skill in providing objective, neutral, and strategic HR services.
• Demonstrated excellent employee service. Resolves problems responsively, creatively and logically.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and on a small, collaborative HR team.
• Demonstrated understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using Microsoft Office programs, email, Internet
• Associate Degree in Business Administration or equivalent field. Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Preferred 2 years or more of progressive safety responsibilities
• Must have prior experience across all functions of HR as described.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports directly to Director of HR and dotted line into the General Manager

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally, sitting most of the time, and only brief periods of standing and walking.
• Requires minimal travel for training or customer store visits as needed.
