Join us!The Career Readiness Education (CRE) Teacher is state certified teacher and/or alternatively certified CRE Teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in a Project Based Learning on-line environment. The CRE teacher must provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students individual needs.
Teachers monitor student progress through K12s learning management system, and work actively with students and parents to advance each students learning.This is a part-time position. Hours to be determined by supervisor.Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.Instructional/CurricularEffectively apply working knowledge of the K12 curriculum and Online School as it relates to grade and subject level assignment;In concert with other discipline experts participate in the development of Projects within a Project Based Learning Environment using K12 design protocols;Collaborate with other discipline experts to create ongoing projects designed around course and industry standards;Maintain and effectively apply knowledge of the State and Industry Specific learning standards;Support students/parents with placement, online school set up, curriculum and instructional issues;Develop effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance provided curriculum.CommunicationContact the student regularly via e-mail or phone;Respond within appropriate time frame (usually one business day) to student/parent inquiries;Participate in a weekly teacher conference call with the Academic Administrator;Attend regularly scheduled face-to-face and virtual staff meetings.Records ManagementDevelop and maintain student academic progress;Generate formal reports;Alert school administrators of any concerns about student progress and attendance;Process student change in placement, as appropriate;Complete semester and end of year progress reports.CommunityOrganize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families;Create a monthly newsletter or updated Web site;Travel to assigned geographic areas to support students; participate in school activities such as open houses, expos, information session and orientations;Lead student/parent orientations.Assessment/EvaluationWork with the administration to prepare students for state assessments;Serve as proctors for site-based proctored exams;Administer state assessments;Assess students per policy.Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree ANDOne (1) year industry experience leading to certification OREquivalent combination of education and experienceCertificates and Licenses: Appropriate State and subject teaching certification.OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Shared view of the virtual academys missionStrong content and subject-matter knowledgeAn ability to support and guide adults as well as studentsExcellent knowledge of motivational techniquesExcellent organizational, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills;Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensing as requiredStrong written and verbal communication skillsMicrosoft Office; Web proficiency.Ability to travel up to 10% of the timeAbility to pass required background checkDesired Qualifications: Experience as an online learnerExperience using a student information system and/or other type of databaseProject Based Learning trainingExperience teaching in a virtual settingEquipment AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSInternet service with modem/router is a requirement. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the positions level and expected contribution, and the employees benefits elections.
Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate this position will pay between $20.00 – $30.00 per hour. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individuals compensation can vary based on several factors.
These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
