This Emergency Essential (EE) position is in the KBR Shipboard Department for the APS-3 program, located on the Goose Creek Naval Weapons Station, Joint Base Charleston.
KBR executes a contract for the US Army to provide Maintenance and Logistics services for the Army Prepositioned War Stock Set #3 (APS-3) at the Army Field Support Battalion Charleston.
The Shipboard Department consists of approximately 30 employees, some are land based at APS-3, but most are permanently performing duties aboard five Large Medium Speed Roll-on/Roll-off (LMSR) ships located in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean theaters of operation. Mechanics provide Field Level Maintenance and surveillance on the full spectrum U.S. Military combat and tactical weapons systems, as well as other supporting equipment elements stored on board the vessel.
his position is located in the Shipboard Operations Department afloat for the APS-3 Program, located on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station, Joint Base Charleston. Job Summary: The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors’ priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.
This Worker may monitor and control movement of material and parts, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of repair and maintenance processes; compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck; uses stock records in order to locate material for the maintenance process, using computerized system. Provides guidance and training to lower level supply personnel, e.g., Warehouse Specialist, Stock Clerk, shipping Receiving Clerk and provides assistance to the Ship Supervisor.
Specific Duties:
Performs day-to-day routine tasks, in accordance with established guidelines, and receives specific guidance from the supervisor.
Request and process MRO’s Coordinate with shops to ensure parts are handed off to shops in a timely manner.
Other duties that may be assigned to meet company and departmental goals and objectives.
QUALIOFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending. Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots as well as Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) which may include but not limited to Level III plus/IV Individual Body Armor with both front and back ballistic plates, ACH helmet, clothing (undergarments, shirts and pants and/or coveralls), reflective vests/belts, sound suppression devices, etc. Day-to-day physical requirements may involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc. Work requires moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairs.
Standing – between 2 to 3 hours per day
Walking – between 4 to 5 hours per day
Lifting – up to 50 lbs. periodically
Squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching and climbing – periodically
Work outside and inside in non-climate controlled environments.
Achieve and maintain medical clearance and training to wear and use a respirator periodically – specific events could require wear up to 10 hours per day.
THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED ON SHIP NOT IN SC. No relocation, no perdiem, no uplift available.
