We’re looking for a meticulous, innovative industrial designer/product developer who is highly collaborative and can guide a product from conception through to development. This person is above all passionate about bringing beautifully designed and impeccably functional products to life.
NOTE: This is a contractor role with flexible time commitment that has the ability to turn into a full time position at Cadence.
Example Responsibilities
– Support new product development efforts across each step of the process, from brief and concepting, to design development, through delivery of final design intent and DFM.
– Evaluate designs through physical prototyping across a range of rapid prototyping techniques.
– Utilize your experience with a wide range of manufacturing modes and processes to guide production and development
– Communicate to team members with appropriately detailed presentations of references, sketches, renderings.
– Initiate, facilitate, and oversee dialogue with manufacturers and vendors through RFQ, technical drawings and design intent documentation.
– Provide agile maintenance of design intent during DFM phase.
– Participate and advise during vendor sourcing and vetting process.
– Bring hand sketching and model making capabilities to the team.
– Work with the brand and the brand creatives to inform the design of the product.
– Produce manufacturing documentation and technical drawings.
– Render designs digitally.

Role Checklist
– Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Industrial Design or related field
– 4+ years of experience as a industrial designer or product developer for a for-profit company
– Must be proficient in 3D modeling, Solidworks, Rhinoceros and similar are preferred.
– Proficient with rendering production
– Proficient with hand sketching, model making, rapid prototyping
– Experienced with building decks and leading presentations
– Proficient with Adobe suite
– Location: New York City
– Experience working in the start-up world is a plus
