We are currently seeking a Materials Engineer motivated in application development of metals/Anti-corrosion to vehicles to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI. This role will be responsible for developing metal materials Aluminum/Steel and others used in the production of automobile parts. This position will evaluate/develop materials to meet vehicle applications from a materials engineering standpoint and then proceed with the program application. In addition, will be responsible for generating, developing and implementing novel ideas that contribute to vehicle quality improvement, cost reduction and sustainability. Therefore, the role will require cross functional coordination with Suppliers, Manufacturing Plants, Design Engineers and Purchasing to achieve company KPI s Quality, Cost, Schedule . Flexible working at office or home can be offered.

Job functions include:

• Material qualification activities using company engineering standards including supplier visits
• Establish test plan, perform or direct testing using in-house or out-source resources, write technical reports to communicate the progress or evaluation judgment
• Identify and define problems, collect data and draw valid conclusions
• Value Optimization cost reduction activity management
• Research U.S. local material technologies and create new product specification
• Work independently within a fixed schedule; domestic and international travel as required
• Global collaborations with Nissan Japan and other regional engineering counterpart.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
• Will consider all levels of candidates, entry-level to highly experienced, or combination of advanced degree, co-op/internship and experience required; 3 years-experience desired
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
• Experience working in a multicultural environment desired
• Ability to travel and work overtime may be required
• Practical experience with all aspect of materials testing/analyzing, including but not limited to: testing methods and equipment, production and conversion/forming processes, formulations, applications, etc. desired
• Direct experience with problem analysis and root cause investigation, product development and failure prevention, such as FMEA, desired
