Position Overview

Under general direction, provides lead coordination between and advanced systems engineering duties for assigned project(s) including Traction Power, Signaling, Communications, Radio, Fire, SCADA systems, Station Electrical and Mechanical, and Office Management Systems.  Provides technical leadership to staff, subcontractors, and vendors;. Provides assistance and solves field problems; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Understand project systems and objectives as they relate to project deliverables
• Evaluate the design, development, implementation, testing of transit systems.
• Manage established systems engineering processes for successful integration of multiple transit subsystems into a fully function system. This includes managing subcontractors through our processes.
• Interface, Requirements, and Configuration Management for transit systems
• Interfaces with civil and facility designers to coordinate civil-systems interfaces
• Effectively interface with Test and Commissioning Manager, System Test Leads, Engineering, Construction, Subcontractor and third-party testing personnel in support of integration and testing.

Required Knowledge: 

• Operational characteristics of a variety of computer and network systems, applications, hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
• Methods and techniques involved in designing, installing, and maintaining multi-vendor systems and connectivity.
• Design and system integration of communication and control systems such as CCTV, Passenger Information Systems, Telephone, SCADA, Signaling.
• Project management techniques and principles.
• Established electrical engineering principles, methods, and techniques; and electrical equipment and systems.
• Recent developments, current literature, and sources of information related to innovations and trends in applications design, development, and maintenance.
• Techniques to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of functional testing of integrated transit electrical, train control, communications, and traction electrification systems
• Application and management of the Systems Engineering and Integration Process in accordance with IEEE and INCOSE standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 10+ years related experience in the areas of rail electrical, train control, communications, and/or traction power systems
• Knowledge and familiarity with occupational safety and ability to complete required company and client rail transit project specific safety requirements
• Committed to promoting a culture of safety within our organization and alongside all of our clients
• Must possess effective organizational skills
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Prepared to attend meetings with customers and owners/general contractors
• Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills
• Must be able to access all points of a construction site
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with the use of Microsoft Excel and Word
