In your HR Manager role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world.

The HR Manager serves in a strategic and hands-on capacity through partnering with the Business Leaders and employees on day-to-day HR needs. This role provides guidance and support to help develop and deliver the people strategy and business solutions. As part of the Mill Leadership Team, this role supports and collaborates with Mill Managers and Team leaders, HR, employees, Union (where applicable) and HR COE teams. Focusing on the 1-2 year people plan, the Mill HRBP serves in a leadership capacity within the manufacturing facilities and reports directly into the HR function.

This incumbent provides direct leadership to the mill HR team and support to all mill employees to achieve objectives and drive sustained competitiveness and long-term viability as an organization.

Responsibilities:

• Manages the administration of annual salary planning process to assure salaried employees receive performance and salary reviews as scheduled.
• Provides leadership, counsel, coaching, mentoring and developmental leadership to team members and Mill Leadership.
• Provides leadership & direction as required to Mill Leadership and team members to manage mill recruitment to acquire qualified, effective, high performing and diverse teams. This includes permanent employees and temporary workers from our local Temporary Employment 3rd Party Contractor.
• Assists Mill Leadership with succession planning to ensure internal staffing voids are kept to a minimum.
• Performance Management – provides leadership & direction to Mill Leadership and HPWTs pertaining to management of performance including discipline and termination situations, which would include assessment processes, outplacement and performance improvement plans (PIPs). Transitions employees by acting as liaison with HPWT’s and Mill Leadership.
• Total Pay Effectiveness – Manages the salaried and hourly compensation program to ensure continuity, integrity and consistency to corporate strategy. This includes ongoing maintenance of hourly/salary wages and periodic wage adjustments, as required.
• Salaried and Hourly Development Programs – Acts as site liaison with training and development opportunities for salaried and hourly employees, and co-ordinates succession plans for mill with mill leadership.
• Manages timely & precise action plans and communications to address all employee situations requiring legal action. Liaises with Legal, Corporate, Consultants and government agencies as required.
• Acts as Site Trainer for key HR tools & processes such as: Targeted Selection, Workday, Performance and Development Management, Leadership Development, Color Wheel, Individual Development Plans, Performance Improvement Plans etc.
• Disability Management: manages STD, LTD and WSIB disabilities and early return to work program. Liaises with Benefit Carrier, Corporate Benefits, Disability/Ergonomics Consultants, Outsourced Health Services provider and WSIB.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred or equivalent experience required.
• 5+ years of human resource experience is required.
• Leadership experience (prior experience at a site leadership level)
• Experience as HR generalist preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in labor relations and working in a unionized environment
• Demonstrated understanding of corporate human resources policies and practices and confidentiality.
• All Knowledgeable with federal and provincial legislation; Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code etc.
