Position Overview:
This position is for an experienced Senior System Administrator to support the FBI’s computer systems being used for the delivery of training content and training related services. This position involves working in support of the Training Division to deliver training content and training related services to FBI personnel. The Senior System Administrator’s role is to ensure the stability, administer, and monitor the in-house and cloud information systems. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded IT background, possessing intermediate to advanced skills within Windows Server OS, server virtualization technologies as well as cloud services support skill areas.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Perform initial installation and configuration of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2012 R2 servers in both physical and virtual server environments
Provide administration of servers in a virtualized server environment using VMware and or Hyper-V management tools
Provide administration of Windows Server 2008 and 2012 in a virtualized server environment, i.e. Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS
Provide implementation and administration of DNS and associated networking services
Effectively monitor Windows Server 2008 and 2012 using advanced built-in features as well as 3rd party tools
Troubleshoot server system problems, utilizing available tools and working in coordination with other internal groups and vendor provided technical support resources
Troubleshoot networking issues related to routing, firewalls, and DMZ architecture
Work with other unit members to monitor and ensure compliance with corporate security policies.
Use a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving
Document complex system configurations, processes, and procedures
Requirements
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
3+ years of experience in a Windows systems administrator role
Knowledge of Microsoft server technologies and associated software
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts and network troubleshooting
Ability to help resolve complex technical issues
Ability to perform virtual server, storage, and network management
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
