The Privacy Attorney APAC/China will be an integral member of the privacy & legal teams as Korn Ferry works to comply with applicable laws for its client and vendor agreements and engagements. This role will report to the global Associate General Counsel, Co-Chief of Privacy and can expect a close working relationship with other lawyers and privacy professionals in APAC and across the globe. The successful candidate will conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, evaluate personal data transfer processing and export requirements and mechanisms, , conduct Data Transfer Impact Assessments, prepare and implement Standard Contractual Clauses, review Data Protection Agreements, and as necessary negotiating/discussion with clients, vendors or Korn Ferry consultants.
The Privacy Attorney APAC/China will work with other internal teams, including Legal, Products, and Technology, as well as third parties, and engagement teams.
This is a hybrid position, and the successful candidate is encouraged to be in office 2-3 days a week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Drive data privacy projects and initiatives in China and APAC
· Coordinate requirements from clients in relation to data privacy with internal Privacy, Security and Technology Operations teams
· Interface with internal clients and other attorneys to ensure client contracts reflect agreed business terms and are consistent with company policies and approved legal terms and conditions
· Advise Korn Ferry and its stakeholders on data privacy-related matters including compliance with data protection frameworks such as PIPL and other applicable laws and regulations in the APAC countries
· Review and negotiate data protection agreements and/or SCCs with clients and vendors
· Perform privacy impact assessments and develop a deep understanding of how data is processed by Korn Ferry’s products and technology
· Perform Data Transfer Impact Assessments
· Implement and manage compliance with China’s PIPL privacy laws, including data localization and export requirements and filings
· Develop and deliver guidance and training in support of Korn Ferry’s products and services
· Review and negotiate client questionnaires
· Help to continuously improve the firm’s global privacy program
· Responsibilities may include other duties, as needed
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
