Description & Requirements
This role is responsible for the development and execution of the plant people strategy including but not limited to HR policies- programs- and procedures within the facility- strategically sets the direction for the facility from a people and business perspective- handles employee and labor relations in a unionized or manufacturing setting- and runs training and development for the facility. This position is also responsible for employee communications and engagement- recruitment and staffing- and compliance and benefits administration. In this role- the incumbent will be expected to solve problems- advise staff on all personnel issues- develop and complete objectives under minimal direction- make timely decisions- and have the ability to affect business goals and partner/participate in factory-wide initiatives and projects.
Factory Fun Facts
The Avon factory is a union site located in New York about 25 miles outside Rochester- NY. The plant employs nearly 250 salaried and hourly employees. The plant produces all of Kraft Heinz Cool Whip and is 1 of 2 plants that produce Oscar Mayer Lunchables. There are lots to explore in Avon and surrounding areas of Rochester NY with Niagara Falls just a short 80-mile drive away.
What Will You Do?
This role focuses on carrying out human resource processes- including workforce planning and budgeting- compensation administration- succession planning- performance management- and organizational change/effectiveness
Administrative: handles HR administrative & transactional work processes such as FMLA- leave management- HR systems- and recordkeeping as well as participating in daily production meetings
Analytics: responsible for maintaining data accuracy within HR systems and compiling data analytics on a monthly cadence
Compliance: works with corporate compliance and legal department to ensure regulatory compliance in all aspects of HR; ensuring the Affirmative Action/EEO Program is kept current and updated accordingly- as well as participating and supporting all internal/external audits within the facility as needed
Employee Engagement: coordinate and implement employee engagement and communication activities such as community involvement programs
Employee Relations: for non-union sites- this role supports efforts to provide a proactive approach to maintaining current union free status; for union sites this role supports efforts to provide a proactive approach to maintaining constructive relationships with the union including assisting with contractual issues (grievances- arbitrations- etc.) and negotiations process
Labor Relations: handles employee & labor relations by investigating- resolving and communicating employee questions- issues- concerns- grievances- and sets union labor strategy for the facility
Onboarding: could run salaried and/or hourly talent acquisition activities within the facility including recruitment- selection and testing- and onboarding
Recruiting: participate in ongoing hiring strategies and efforts to elevate the team and organizational effectiveness
Supervising: may manage hourly employee(s)
Training: leads all site training- including compliance and on the job training programs
Qualifications
Experience in Human Resources with the demonstrated ability to influence key customers across all levels of the organization.
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
PHR or SPHR certification
Demonstrable track record of problem solving- simplifying the complex- and effectively leading change
Excellent social skills with the ability to impact a broad audience
Understanding of business fundamentals
Strong project management skills with a keen eye for detail- organization- and ability to run multiple challenging priorities
Excellent organizational skills- self-starter and ability to meet deadlines and balance challenging priorities
