GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for all Safety processes, training and controls at the location. This position will provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day safety requirements to ensure that the location is OSHA compliant while continuously improving safety practices. Leadership duties will also be designated to personnel functions as well including, but not limited to scheduling, assisting in orientations, tracking absentee information and other the day-to-day personnel duties.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SAFETY:
Assist in compliance with all Federal, State and local safety regulations regarding OSHA. This includes all required documentation: OSHA 300 log, Electronic Filing, etc.
Ensure that the monthly safety numbers report and safety action correction plan is updated and entered by deadline.
Ensure that all incident analysis reports are completed timely and thoroughly; send reports to necessary staff within the company.
Maintain and update the emergency action plan, PPE hazard assessment, JSAs, SDS sheets, etc.
Prepare and conduct safety-training sessions, documenting employee participation.
Oversee training and safety inspections on personnel, materials and equipment.
Organize and actively participate in safety team meetings.
Conduct frequent safety inspections, safety observations, and daily surveillance checks. Make recommendations to correct any unsafe hazard and follow up on corrective actions.
Participate in Corporate audits, insurance audits, and OSHA inspections.
Assist in orientations and on the job training regarding safety.
Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
Select, purchase and maintain the appropriate PPE for employees.
Maintain the MnSHARP program and work towards MnSTAR
Complete other duties as assigned.
HUMAN RESOURCES:
Assist production supervisors in best utilizing labor in production, including scheduling and completing daily labor sheets and conducting ongoing training with general labor personnel.
Assist in tracking and entering absentee information. Utilize a call-in list to control scheduled and unscheduled absences.
Manage quarterly supply inventory to control loss.
Assist in new employee orientation and job specific training.
Manage the drug screening process for all full-time and occasional seasonal employees.
Advise team members and management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures.
Assist the production supervisors in utilizing and monitoring the seasonal labor force.
Complete other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge:
One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
Basic computer knowledge and skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and documents-
Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
Familiar with OSHA regulations and safe word practices. OSHA 10 hour course completion is helpful but not necessary.
Effective organizational skills and good interpersonal skills
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and policies.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratios and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
