Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:
The Program Director is a full-time,
benefitted, Faculty Categoy D position responsible for providing support, leadership, development, and business continuity to the assigned
academic school and associated programs and disciplines. Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Dean, School
of Arts & Sciences, this position leads, collaborates, develops, organizes, and continuously improves division operations; conducts
program and curriculum management; ensures smooth and effective processes through direct relations with faculty; and supports stakeholder
relationships in promotion of individual and organizational success.
The Program Director executes this role through developing
positive and constructive relationships, embracing and cultivating an environment of shared governance, collaboration, and supporting active
engagement in meeting the College’s mission and strategic goals. This position will provide direction for operations, management, and
utilization of resources; develop and provide feedback to faculty and staff; and will work to remove barriers and promote individual and
organizational success in the delivery of quality, effective instruction and relevant, effective programming.

Organizational Relationship:
The
Program Director reports directly to the Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. This position will supervise and provide development
feedback to full-time and part-time faculty and staff and has a highly collaborative relationship with multiple College departments,
committees, and leadership teams.
Benefits: Approximately 85% of health insurance premiums paid by the College, the
College will contribute 13.19% of the employee’s salary towards their retirement fund, 12 vacation days, 12 sick days, 2 personal

Essential

Program Management – The
Director, under the Dean’s leadership and direction, will provide effective management and utilization of resources and processes in the
successful operation of the assigned program and disciplines. More specifically, the Director is responsible for the following:
Employee Development and Management:
- Grow effective, collaborative, and responsive teams through leading employee
recruitment, supervision, and development to support and advance the College’s mission and objectives - Manage frequent classroom
observations to inform the Dean’s cyclical and comprehensive evaluation of faculty and understanding of the impacts of teaching on
learning across the program - Recruit and manage adjunct faculty resources to ensure availability of high-quality part-time faculty
in assigned disciplines - Collaborate with the Center for Excellence in Teaching in the identification and delivery of meaningful
professional development to serve individual as well as collective goals that are directly impactful to instruction. These opportunities
will be associated with Student Course Questionnaire feedback as well as currency in instructional best practices and aligned with
individual, discipline, school, and institutional goals. - Ensure faculty are engaged in the activities of the program as well as
those designed for the professional development of all faculty
Division Support and Resource Management:
- Support program planning, including development and recruitment of advisory committees, supporting community outreach, and creating
operational plans; provide managerial support through collaborations with internal and external stakeholders where appropriate. - Advocate effectively for the needs of the program and the students it serves while accepting compromise to the broader school interests
when appropriate; act as a resource to the program for support and removal of barriers to success - Support program plans and results
with data-influenced rationale; support overall School operations through promoting continuity, collaboration, and operational
excellence - Provide leadership for the effective and efficient utilization of assigned resources in support of the strategic
management of the School including budget management, equipment usage, supply ordering, and scheduling - Assure program innovation
that is strategic, aligned with institutional goals, coordinated across the School with consideration for capacity and impact, and leveraged
in efficient, consistent, and meaningful ways. This includes the pursuit of interdisciplinary opportunities, implementation of Applied
Learning across the College, application of institutional resources across traditional lines, and the pursuit of external funding to support
them. - Work closely with program faculty to sustain and expand opportunities for undergraduate research and applied learning in the
sciences - Oversee and ensure the science laboratories are current, safe, and efficient learning environments; ensure that lab
preparation responsibilities are assigned equitably and evaluated for impact on an annual basis
Curriculum
Management and Assessment – The Director provides managerial support to the assigned program and disciplines in order to
ensure the delivery of quality, effective instruction and relevant, effective programming. Under the Dean’s leadership and direction,
the Director collaborates on planning improvements as a result of annual program analysis, student learning assessment, and cyclical Pathway
Review.
- Develop, deliver, monitor, and improve academic programs that ensure students earn relevant science degrees and
credentials - Collaborate with faculty to ensure the relevance and currency in curricula of assigned programs and/or disciplines
- Support the faculty in the pursuit of action plan goals that result from Pathway Review; monitor goal attainment through collaborative,
consistent, and sustained attention and data analysis as well as regularly reporting the collective achievement of desired outcomes to the
Dean - Contribute to the design of effective summative learning assessments at the course and program level; ensure cyclical and
consistent delivery of assessments of student learning across all modalities; manage the faculty analysis of results and development of
resultant action plans; produce reports as needed to demonstrate progress made toward the achievement of student learning - Analyze
instruction through a visible set of institutionally defined metrics in order to afford program faculty and staff the opportunity to
understand the results of their work in a comprehensive manner; provide regular analysis of the results to the Dean in order to serve
division goal setting processes in a continuous improvement cycle
Stakeholder Partnerships and Student
Success – Under the direction of the Dean and in collaboration with faculty, the Program Director is responsible for
fostering, developing, and supporting stakeholder partnerships and student success. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the College that support student engagement in the assigned
disciplines; lead the alignment of program initiatives and goals with the broader student recruitment, retention, and success goals of the
College
- Assemble, maintain, and convene comprehensive and appropriate advisory boards to ensure program curriculum is
relevant and viable - Develop and maintain effective transfer pathways and agreements with colleges and universities that provide
effective pathways to a bachelor degree and employment upon completion - Conduct conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation of
student, faculty, and staff concerns, in accordance with the respective College procedures - Coordinate the program’s efforts
in the recruitment and retention of students - Collaborate and lead the application of strategic enrollment management to include:
- Develop collaborative and intentional scheduling of courses to ensure alignment with related academic paths as well as ensuring
student access and flexibility in their on-time completion of their chosen degree - Assess the efficacy of scheduling in relation to
student access and demand, student success, and faculty workload assignments; apply valued metrics in the analysis and appropriate
modification of scheduling practices throughout the division - Assist with the development of Concurrent & Dual Enrollment
offerings
- Develop collaborative and intentional scheduling of courses to ensure alignment with related academic paths as well as ensuring
Instructional Responsibilities
Program Directors are faculty, and as such
they have expectations for the fulfillment of instructional responsibilities associated with their role, as well as the requirement to
demonstrate the behavioral competencies expected of all LCCC faculty. These functional and behavioral responsibilities include teaching up
to 10 credits per year within their division as detailed below:
Teaching and Learning
Employing student-centered
teaching practices coupled with the development and use of appropriate and current educational materials to maximize student engagement and
success.
- Provide student-centered instruction to maximize student engagement and success
- Implement effective classroom
technologies and technology innovation in instructional practice - Employ methods that develop student understanding of the values,
practice, and procedures within a discipline - Evaluate student engagement and success through formative and summative assessment to
improve teaching and learning - Utilize high-impact teaching practices
- Engage students in interdisciplinary practices to
develop 21st century learners
Competency-Based Design
Applying competency-based design to the
development of curriculum. Engaging with colleagues at the course, program, and institutional level with the aim of continuous
improvement.
- Engage with peers and internal and external stakeholders to improve student learning
- Maintain and adapt
curriculum that is current, effective, and relevant to establish learning competencies - Gather data on student learning to assess
student achievement of learning competencies - Articulate measurable, student-centered learning competencies

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher from a regionally accredited
institution in a discipline associated with the School of Arts & Sciences - Four years of experience in use of varying
instructional methodology; curriculum design and development; online teaching; and program planning - Two years of leadership
experience including personnel and resource management, and project leadership focusing on continuous improvement - One year of
experience with curriculum/program management, development and assessment of academic programs including scheduling, program management of
curricular and extra-curricular activities
All LCCC Faculty are required to meet the minimum faculty qualifications as defined
within the College’s Administrative Procedure 2.7P.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in a
field related to the academic areas within the School, or in higher education, or administration, from a regionally accredited college or
university - Four years of progressive leadership experience including personnel and resource management, and project leadership
focusing on continuous improvement - Demonstrated experience with change management
