Legal Secretary – Protective Services Section / Child Support Services / Civil and Criminal Litigation & Advice Full Time

Job Location(s): Flagstaff, Phoenix, Prescott, Tucson

The Legal Secretary provides secretarial support for one or more Assistant Attorneys General which includes: preparation of legal pleadings and documents necessary to process cases on behalf of the client; drafting and typing correspondence; coordinating and monitoring service of process, including communicating with the process servers and locate unit; answering inquiries from client, court personnel, and others regarding case activity and status; inputting data into and using an automated case management system to maintain and track case records and activity; independently generating legal forms needed in all types of actions; maintain court calendar and legal deadlines; preparing documents and legal memoranda; and other projects as assigned. Duties involve reviewing, creating, and processing materials and information that are confidential by federal and state laws.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms, court procedures, and applicable time-frames
• Knowledge of service of process procedures
• Knowledge of Arizona rules and statutes including court procedures and applicable time-frames
• Effective communication skills
• Manage a heavy work load with multiple deadlines
• Ability to prepare legal documents
• Ability to track and follow-through on court actions
• Ability to utilize automated case management systems
• Ability to follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously

Preferred: Two years of experience as a Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant or completion of a post high school legal secretary or paralegal training program.
