As an Organizational and Career Development Manager you will have the opportunity to help lead our global talent processes focused on career pathing, succession planning, individual development plans, and talent solutions to improve employee readiness for increased responsibilities. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by implementing processes to improve Leggett and Platt’s leadership capabilities and the ability to make more effective, strategic decisions about key talent.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Talent Development, this leader will focus comprehensively on Leggett and Platt’s talent pipeline and career development processes. This role is instrumental in executing Leggett and Platt’s talent development strategy to retain top talent and build the capabilities and critical skills of our employees through the design, delivery and evaluation of organization-wide talent development processes.
In partnership and collaboration with the Talent Development team, this role will lead the ongoing development and refinement of talent development programs and initiatives including talent reviews, continuous performance management and succession planning. This role will partner closely with HR Business Partners and business leadership to understand business strategies and relationships in order to implement these programs and provide thought leadership to the talent pipeline.
So, what will you be doing as an Organizational and Career Development Manager?
Lead the continuous performance management process including the design of the system, communication plan, education and engagement with managers and employees. Support HR Business Partners with calibration sessions and resources to support the process.
Collaborate with talent management leadership as a thought leader in the design of global talent development processes to identify critical skills and build experiences for leadership and functional skill development.
Ensure high-quality, leading-edge performance and talent development solutions through effective needs assessments, design evaluation, resource materials and reinforcement strategies to achieve business objectives.
Develop, implement, maintain and facilitate career development to increase retention and effectiveness of employees.
Implement talent review processes that support the identification and development of top talent, mitigate talent risks, and strategically plan for succession that enables internal mobility through effective development plans.
Consult and partner with HR Business Partners and organization leaders on talent pipelines, succession candidates and individual, differentiated development needs and provide innovative development solutions to support the growth of top talent within Leggett and Platt.
Build, deliver and recommend solutions for professional skills training for trending development needs as part of career development planning. Create multiple career ladders (technical vs. leadership) within the organization that allows for optimizing employee skillsets.
Champion and ensure talent management programs, processes and initiatives embed equitable, inclusive practices and support the progression of achieving inclusion, diversity and equity goals.
Use data to evaluate and track effectiveness and performance excellence by preparing and reporting on key talent metrics including but not limited to talent review data, succession planning and internal moves and promotions.
Lead the implementation of talent development processes into the Human Capital Management System and prepare guides and training for employees and managers to utilize the system. Partner with HRIS to enhance the SuccessFactors platform and ensure our talent processes are seamless within the system.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years progressive human resources experience focused on driving talent development, performance management, leadership and organizational development solutions. Additional HR Business Partner experience and working in both corporate and manufacturing environments a plus.
Consulting and talent management experience with designing processes for internal mobility, talent planning and career pathing.
Demonstrated success in the design, creation and delivery of development processes and program that build talent capabilities.
Experience with human capital management systems and implementing talent processes into the HCM. Experience working with talent and performance systems and tools (e.g. SuccessFactors or related systems).
Solid verbal and written communication skills with excellent facilitation skills.
Ability to develop and nurture productive business relationships and influence key stakeholders; seen as approachable and credible
