The Leidos Defense Group has a career opportunity for a talented Site Reliability Engineer to come work in our state of the art Software Factory in Charlottesville, VA. You will be the primary system administrator for the Charlottesville office as well as contribute to a variety of customer programs, working with a world-class software teams that are singularly focused on delivering world-class solutions to our customers in an exciting, collaborative, and inclusive atmosphere. What you will work on:
Your primary responsibility will be ensuring that our team of software engineers have the tools they need to perform their jobs effectively. This includes troubleshooting issues on their laptops and coordinating with Leidos CIO to manage network configurations so that engineers can access the resources needed to perform their jobs. Also, you will be responsible for keeping our offices System Security Plan (SSP) updated, coordinating with CIO on exceptions to policy, and enforcing security controls as necessary.
In addition to your internal responsibilities within the Charlottesville office, the large portion of your time will be spent supporting a variety of projects executed from the Software Factories across multiple customers and domains. In this capacity, you will apply your expertise managing virtual machines and cloud environments to support the run-time infrastructures of our software projects to help ensure those environments remain available and secure. You will also have access to continuous learning and upskilling opportunities to help you grow in your career and enable you to take on additional responsibilities within Leidos.
Technologies you will work with include but are not limited to:
Microsoft Hololens 2 & Azure Cloud
AWS Snowball, Outpost and Edge Devices
Streaming data from edge devices to the cloud, for example IoT GreenGrass and deploying Lambda functions and Artificial Intelligence services like Sagemaker Neo, TensorRT and more.
Intermittently Connected systems using LTE 4/5G, Starlink and similar wireless systems.
Cybersecurity Accreditation and security control implementation
GitLab CI/CD Pipelines and working with a world-class team of Development and Site Reliability Engineers.
Support and Deployment of software supporting our nations defense, including Air Force, Army and Navy. Examples include Long Range Precision Fires, Air Force Base Condition Monitoring & Alerts, Biometric Identity Analysis, Chemical/Biological/Radioactive/Nuclear modeling and planning, and more.
Skills / Experiences You Must Have
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or similar field with 2-4 years of applicable experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., ICMP, HTTPS, DNS).
Experience provisioning and managing resources within IaaS/Cloud infrastructures (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc.).
Excellent problem solving and analysis skills, including the ability to logically create structure and order from unstructured inputs.
Self-starter that is able to work independently while possessing the communication skills to work effectively with software development teams and customers.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
AWS or Microsoft Azure certification
Professional cybersecurity certification such as Security+, or similar
Experience with container technologies such as Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Experience with automated provisioning and configuration tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or similar technologies
