LHH Hiring for Logistics Coordinator at Itasca, IL Full Time

The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring efficient coordination and execution of logistics operations within an organization. This position is responsible for overseeing the movement of goods, coordinating transportation, managing inventory, and maintaining accurate documentation. The Logistics Coordinator works closely with various internal departments, external vendors, and transportation providers to ensure timely delivery of products and customer satisfaction. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role. The Logistics Coordinator reports to the Logistics Manager or Supply Chain Manager. This is a Contract to Hire role located near Itasca, IL.

Responsibilities:

• Receive and review customer orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate order fulfillment, including inventory allocation, order prioritization, and scheduling of shipments.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve any order-related issues or delays.
• Coordinate transportation arrangements, including selecting carriers, scheduling pickups, and tracking shipments.
• Negotiate freight rates and contracts with transportation providers to optimize costs and service levels.
• Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, customs requirements, and applicable laws.
• Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and update inventory records.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure accurate inventory counts and resolve any discrepancies.
• Forecast inventory needs based on historical data, market trends, and customer demand.
• Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, export/import documentation, and customs declarations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of shipments, inventory, and logistics activities.
• Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and transportation costs.
• Address and resolve any logistics-related issues, such as shipment delays, damaged goods, or quality concerns.
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement in logistics operations.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations governing transportation, import/export, and hazardous materials handling.
• Promote and enforce safety practices to maintain a safe working environment within the logistics function.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Previous experience as a Logistics Coordinator or in a similar logistics support role.
• Strong knowledge of logistics principles, procedures, and best practices.
• Proficiency in using logistics and inventory management software systems.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and documentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address logistics challenges and optimize operations.
• Knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and international trade practices.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in logistics operations.

Job Details:

• Contract to Hire
• Monday-Friday, first shift
• Pay $24-29 an hour depending on experience
