Network Maintenance
Coordinator

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the supervision of the Director of Technology and in collaboration with the Director of Maintenance and
Operations, performs a variety of duties related to the maintenance of built-in fixtures and related equipment including the telephone, projectors, notification, surveillance and associated data communications systems used by the District, and perform a wide variety technical of maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, many of which require skilled analysis and problem solving.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain, repair, replace and install telephone, notification and communication hardware.
• Responsible for maintenance, repairs, replacement and installation of a wide variety of digital and analog electronics communication and telecommunication equipment and systems.
• Responsible for maintenance, repairs, replacement, assembly, installation of VolP, traditional voice and voicemail systems, digital and analog electronics communications and telecommunication systems, bell systems, public address systems, clock systems, clock systems and surveillance equipment.

• Coordinates and performs telephone and data communication, Bell, public address, clock and surveillance systems.

• Diagnoses and isolates mechanical and electronic malfunctions and repairs or replaces defective parts.

• Responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing structured cabling and fiber optic network systems and related equipment.

• Programs telephone, bells, public address, clocks, surveillance hardware and Software applications.

• Reads and interprets work sheets, service orders, circuit diagrams, and blueprints for systems to be installed, repaired or modified.

• Assists in the estimation of time and materials for the installation or modification of electronics systems and equipment and ordering of materials.

• Responsible for pulling and terminating low voltage wire to connect telephones, computers, and other network devices when major building modifications are not required.

• Orders new communications equipment as directed by the Director of Technology.
• Repairs/cleans telephones and performs inventory of telephone and data communications equipment.
• Maintains necessary workflows for the processing of telephony, public address systems, bell systems, clock systems, surveillance and data communication repair order billings from vendors to the District’s accounts payable department.

• Maintains routine records, including as-builts, related to work orders, repairs, parts, and assigned activities.

• Communicates with LUHSD personnel and various outside agencies, including districts and phone companies, to exchange information and resolve technical or service issues or concerns.

• Supports school administrators and office staff in the use and function of the electronics systems

at District sites.

• Attends District-sponsored trainings including workshops, classes and seminars to gain and maintain current knowledge of fiber optics, networking and communications.
• Provides training and technical assistance to LUHSD staff.
• Reviews and performs moves, additions and changes as necessary.
• Manage school mounted and movable LCD projectors and/or televisions including the connection device between workstation/laptop/tablet to the peripheral.

• Ability to install, setup and troubleshoot LCD projector.

• Performs related duties as assigned within the scope and skill level of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of telephones, structured cabling and fiber optic networks.
• Knowledge of data communications equipment, terminology and principles, and a working knowledge of personal computer systems.
• Familiar with word processing software in order to compile reports and write letters.
• Skill in learning and interpreting applicable laws, rules and policies in order to apply them using sound judgment in a variety of situations.
• Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of VoIP systems. Appropriate technical training may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
• Current California Driver’s License required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Direct working experience with the telephone and data communications systems used by the

District is highly desirable.

• Ambulatory ability to move to various office and classroom-type locations and to bend, stoop, crawl and reach to install cables and equipment.

• Ability to lift, push and pull objects of medium weight (less than 75 lbs.) on an occasional basis.
• Ability to work in confined areas with noise variations, dust, and limited ventilation.
• Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,134.00 – $93,022.00 per year
