The Staff Accountant will have a strong focus on supporting the month-end close process along with other efforts that support financial and management reporting. A successful candidate will need to be a self-starter who will take the initiative to proactively identify and resolve challenges.

Essential Functions

• Participate in the monthly close process including preparing monthly journal entries and updating monthly labor reports
• Maintain accrual and amortization schedules (Accrued Expenses, Prepaids, Rebates, etc.) on a monthly basis
• Perform monthly reconciliation and analysis of balance sheet accounts
• Assist in completing monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules for Financial Reporting and Tax Department
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Provide recommendations for improving processes and financial efficiency
• Work with other departments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Interact with auditors in the examination of financial and tax related data, reports, and forms
• Assist with documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Knowledge, skills, abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business-related field
• 1-2 years of accounting experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A desire to learn, a strong intellectual curiosity and a positive attitude
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and a team player
• Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Oracle knowledge a plus
