Light Show Installation Staff is a seasonal position tasked with set up and take down of one of NOVA Parks’ three holiday light shows. Light Show Installation Staff is responsible for some or all duties described including assembling, raising, and securing metal frame displays, wrapping trees with string lights, general show preparations and set up. Work days are generally Monday-Friday and work hours are generally 8am-3pm. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required. During Light Show set up, availability to work a full week is preferred but scheduling staff can work around particular conflicts if provided enough notice. Light Show installation generally runs from early to mid-September through early to mid-November when the show opens to the public. Take down of the show generally begins during the first full week in January (after show closes) and lasts approximately 4-6 weeks. There are also a variety of positions hired for show operations between set up and take down.
Pay Rate: $14.50 hourly
Major Duties/Specific Tasks
• Follow instruction and efficiently complete daily tasks to ensure that lighting installation is completed according to schedule.
• Assist with light string and light feature installation.
• Assist with night testing of displays and other show features, replace bulbs and assist with repairs as needed.
• Remove, organize, and pack away string light sets after Light Show season has ended.
• Keep work materials and spaces neat and organized.
• Assist with set up and installation tasks for Holiday Village, to include light and tent installation, tent set up, and decoration. (Bull Run and Ice and Lights)
Minimum Qualifications
• Must be age 16 or over.
• Basic knowledge and operation of hand tools.
• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
• Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to work at heights using ladders and lifts.
• Availability to work a variable work schedule, which may include early and late hours, and weekends.
