Livewell Outdoors is a premier landscape architecture, design and construction company and we are seeking a well-qualified Operations Manager (OM) to join our team.
The broad roles and responsibilities of the OM include but are not limited to the following:
The OM is responsible for all of the operational moving parts of the company, including developing, managing, and mentoring the company crew members toward company goals and revenue objectives, job site planning and execution, client management toward a five star review, identifying improvement objectives in the company and creating and implementing solutions.
Crew leadership & management:
The OM manages and coordinates with direct reports (Project Mangers/Foreman) to ensure that the materials and end product are as specified, meet an acceptable standard and generate positive feedback from clients. The OM will coordinate, engage and interact daily with team members to ensure optimal efficiencies and client satisfaction.
Logistics management:
The OM works with Project Managers to ensure that the materials and equipment needed for each project are mobilized on time, in proper working condition and in acceptable visual appearance.
Customer Budget management:
The OM ensures efficient and effective productivity working toward optimizing each project’s profitability and creating an exceptional customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively schedules pool construction, landscaping and other construction work.
- Takes the initiative to works with Project Managers to:
- Hire, motivate and build a highly effective team / workforce
- Build and maintain subcontractor relationships
- Schedule/order equipment and materials
- Manage/supervise jobs
- Review handoffs from sales for completeness and accuracy
- Communicate with clients to ensure customer satisfaction
- Resolve job quality issues in fair and expeditious manner
- Proactively schedule and track maintenance on equipment and vehicles
- Manage snow removal services
- Other tasks duties as may be required

Leadership:
It is hard to summarize all the skills that typify an excellent leader, but these people are immediately recognizable. They are the ones that exude confidence in all of their actions. When these leaders speak, they command authority and respect. However, a leader never forgets about the team he is running and makes sure to offer encouragement and support where needed. A good leader will also never be afraid to admit when he has made a mistake.
Great Planner:
The OM must be able to visualize a project as a sum of its parts and to plan accordingly. This will mean careful, effective organization and implementation so the pieces of a given project come together into one functioning whole.
Common Sense:
OMs are often valued for their creativity in coming up with new ideas and problem solving. However, this creativity is always the product of common sense informed by experience. The OM will be able to look at all aspects of the company with objectivity and calculate whether plans are actually feasible.
Effective Communicator:
The job of an OM involves translating complicated ideas and instructions winsomely and clearly to department heads, teams, and customers. Since the OM will interact with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds, this can be very challenging. While looking at the technical aspects of a job, the OM should never forget about the human element and that people are the backbone of the company.
Cool Under Pressure:
The OM needs to be able to remain calm no matter what problems occur. In the event of a problem, the OM needs to be cool-headed and able to troubleshoot quickly for a resolution.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to excellence

- At least 5 years’ experience in the construction field managing/supervising construction personnel
- Strong work experience in construction field/management
- Residential pool installation/hardscape experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
- A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
- Exceptional communication and management skills, strong business work ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor required.
- Proven people skills with effective experience in training, managing, mentoring and evaluating direct reports as assigned.
- General computer skills
- Persuasive with details and facts
- Bi-lingual (English Spanish) desirable
Measures of Performance:
The following will be used to evaluate the performance of the Operations Manager:
- Regularly meets performance and productivity targets
- On time performance, work ethic and quality of team and personal development plans
- Provides accurate forecasts, updates and requested reports to President
- Ability to lead by example and manage/mentor reports and peers
- Management objectives may be assigned to further measure and reward top performance
