Job Description

Summary:
The role of the Executive Director of HIEM is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strategic plan objectives and within budget as adopted by the HIEM Board. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Executive Director of HIEM will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
Qualifications:

• Minimum of one (1) of the following required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Information Technology, or related field of study.
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a relevant area.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience..
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ leadership experience required. Experience working in not-for-profit organizations reporting directly to a Board or previously serving on a not-for-profit Board preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with the implementation of multiple entity projects and rural healthcare network management preferred.
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and manage complex projects in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication ability, including clear writing skills, public speaking skills, teaching/training skills, interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to understand, at a management level, the aspects of a broadband telecommunications system project. It is not required that this person be a technical telecom expert; however, they must have a working knowledge of the system to converse about the project with all key players including IT techs, vendors and system users.
• Knowledge of the FCC Healthcare Connect Fund and other rural healthcare programs and experience writing, implementing and reporting on federal and private grants and awards preferred.

Job Specific Duties:

• Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals and objective in collaboration with the board and stakeholders.
• Develops full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
• Effectively communicates project expectations to the board and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Facilitates collaborative relationships with all involved parties.
• Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, and devises contingency plans.
• Directs and/or prepares written reports for company leadership, committees, board members and funding sources.
• Monitors financial performance against project budgets and takes any corrective action necessary in a timely manner to remain fiscally responsible for resources.
• Defines project success criteria and disseminates to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
• Represents the organization and its objectives professionally in all interactions with members of the board, staff and associated health care organizations.
• Assists with ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the Network by sourcing and writing grant applications as appropriate

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.
Schedule:
The Health Information Exchange of Montana operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Management schedule is set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
Work Environment: May be located in any HIEM community – Kalispell, Ronan, Libby, Whitefish, Cut Bank or Missoula. Upon HIEM Board of Director approval, other Montana locations may be considered.
