– Ophthalmology (Full-Time, Day Shift) –

The RN-Ophthalmology Patient Care assumes responsibility and accountability for the management of the specialty clinics’ patient population on an ongoing basis. Integrates RN nursing processes identifying and implementing nursing interventions for a defined patient population. Uses assessment, evaluation, planning and management to provide services and continuity of care for the patient and efficiency for the specialty operations. Utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, and ethics in order to perform duties within the RN Scope of Practice. Has authority and accountability for coordinating and facilitation of all patient hand off functions with minimal supervision. Performs other duties as needed.
Associate of Science Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Minimum two years of experience as a Registered Nurse preferred. Experience in clinical research preferred.
Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Ability to walk patients through clinical environment constantly. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see minimum of 20/30 to procure visual acuity, to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
