The Regional Crisis Center Teacher works in a team teaching environment and is responsible for the development, coordination, and the implementation of educational programming in their assigned classroom. Classrooms range from 8-14 students. Most of the students are 8th – 12th grade. The teacher works closely with the Director of Inpatient Education and Instructional Assistant to establish a flexible, alternative learning environment where students experience academic success while gaining skills to support their transition to independence.

RCC, or the Regional Crisis Center, is a PRTS/subacute residential facility where youth are placed directly from the Department of Human Services. RCC provides residential living facilities, mental health treatment, family counseling, substance use disorders treatment, and academic instruction and education on-site. RCC clients are often display acute behaviors and have multiple mental or behavioral challenges. RCC uses verbal de-escalation tactics as well as treatments such as seclusion rooms and full-body restraints when necessary to ensure the safety of our clients.

Qualified candidates are licensed teachers in the state of Oregon and have at least a bachelor’s degree in education. We encourage candidates to apply if they are working towards getting an OR teaching license whether that is transferring a current license from another state or are on the verge of obtaining a valid teaching license. New graduates are encouraged to apply, but it is preferable to have at least one year of teaching/classroom experience. Experience working with adolescents with special needs and/or behavioral issues is preferred as is some knowledge of SPED and IEPs.
