Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant 2 to support the Controller Division. In this role, you will have the ability to provide Invoice Review Team support and become a member of the Controller-Disbursements (CNTL-DISB) Group.
The Controller group provides support services on the purchase of products and services to LANL. The selected candidate will report to the Controller Disbursements (CNTL-DISB) Group Team Leader and will support the group mission by; reviewing and processing invoices submitted for payment against LANL subcontracts, ensure costs are paid in accordance with subcontract requirements of moderate complexity, provide invoice review services that include verification that costs are accurate and properly supported and otherwise allowable, communicate with subcontractors, subcontract specialists, project managers and technical requesters to discuss and resolve invoice and payment issues.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Accounting Experience
Working experience with large and/or complex contracts of all types including time and materials, labor hours and cost reimbursement. Demonstrated understanding of unallowable/allowable cost and the application of Federal Travel Regulations (FTRs). Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret contractual terms and conditions. Experience reviewing and processing invoices including a demonstrated understanding of accounting systems related to accumulation and billing actual costs.
Problem Solving
Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching, gathering, analyzing data, summarizing results, resolving problems and issues both independently and as a team member.
Customer Service, Organization, Teamwork and Dependability
Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining excellent organization and prioritization with proven ability to follow through completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities; Demonstrated ability in providing strong customer service and interpersonal skills; proven ability in effectively working within a team environment and interacting and networking with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers.
Communication
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Technology
Demonstrated proficient use of computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and 5 years experience; or, the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience directly related to the occupation. MBA is preferred.

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, New Mexico with the potential for teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Telework is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
