Background
The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is the world’s leading non-governmental, non-profit funder of lupus research. Over the past 20 years, the LRA has invested over $220 million in lupus research in more than 525 research and clinical studies. More recently, the LRA established an affiliate organization, Lupus Therapeutics (LT), which is responsible for the coordination, conduct and management of a North American-based clinical trial consortium, the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN). LT through LuCIN is currently conducting 9 Phase I through III clinical trials.
Position Summary
The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is looking for an individual to provide Human Resources (HR) services to all staff of the LRA in various locations throughout the US. This position reports to the Chief Finance and Administrative Officer who has the role of HR Director. This individual will be responsible for coordinating and assisting with various HR functions in a remote/Hybrid working environment. Responsibilities include staffing recruitment, hiring processes and HR management of active personnel ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Involves maintaining personnel records, new hire orientation, assisting departments with staffing, providing guidance and assistance with performance evaluations and improvements for employees as well as involvement with all related employee services and administrative tasks. Works with the PEO on benefits and payroll processing.
Responsibilities
· Serve as primary HR point of contact for LRA staff and research, resolve and respond to everyday employee HR inquiries.
· Assist with the implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and monitor to ensure organizational compliance.
· Facilitate recruitment process and onboarding of new staff. Create onboarding policy and materials.
· Conduct background screenings and new hire orientations for all incoming employees; manage and track new hire paperwork to ensure all documentation is completed and they are completely set up on PEO website.
· Responsible for benefit administration for new hires, terminations, open enrollment and renewals.
· Identify and implement training needs including mandatory annual anti-harassment and cyber security.
· Assists in the annual salary and benefits budget preparation.
· Assist HR Director with employee relations and serve as HR liaison as needed.
· Assist HR director with complaint resolution, fair and consistent treatment of team members, policy development and disciplinary action to achieve a productive team member/leadership relationship.
· Foster the on-going development of positive employee relations to enable a workplace culture recognized as fair, respectful, inclusive and a positive working environment.
· Support payroll coordinator with payroll system administration and entry.
· Assist with the development of policies, procedures, and processes to ensure consistent adherence across the organization of compliance with applicable local/state/federal employment laws.
· Ensure employment handbook is up to date and adheres to PEO and organization policies as well as in compliance with all regulations.
· Assists LRA Cultural Committee to motivate and participate in employee recognition programs and organizational activities.
·Proactively investigates and recommends improvements in Human resources practices that will further the objectives of the LRA.
·Positively participates in additional responsibilities as requested and collaborate with various LRA teams to facilitate meeting LRA goals.
· Other job functions as assigned.
Qualifications
· BA/BS degree in Human Resources/Services or equivalent required.
· 3+ years related human resources work experience conducting similar duties.
· Demonstrated experience in DEI in the HR area.
· Understanding of FMLA, Workers Comp, ACA and Unemployment.
· Working knowledge of New York HR guidelines is preferred.
· SPHR and/or SHRM certification

· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit sensitivity in handling employee issues

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Hands-on, self-directed, detail-oriented, organized, and conscientious
· Team player who can build excellent working relationships both internally and externally.
· Familiar with a PEO such as TriNet preferred.
